I travel from time to time for work. Visiting college campuses, mostly within a few hours drive from the office. Most of the schools being in Virginia. But this time, for the first time, I visited West Virginia.
You hear all the stereotypes of the campus, the people in West Virginia and so forth, but I had no idea what to expect. I figured no different from any other college campus that attracts people from more than just the college. West Virginia University has several tens of thousands of students, and because the out-of-state tuition is sometimes lower than some states’ in-state tuition, they get a lot of people from a lot of places.
As soon as bossman and I drove onto the campus, though, one of the students walking by gave us the finger. Welcome to West Virginia.
Anyway, it was a business trip, a day trip at that, so we didn’t venture off the campus. No sightseeing. No detours or scenic routes, though the normal routes were pretty scenic for people who live in the city. But, I did fire off this one photo of the basketball arena.
Something tells me, unless it’s for work, I won’t be coming back to Morgantown, West Virginia.
